business card, part two. (the better part)

nice of me to milk this one business card into two postings, don't ya think?  anyway check out the back.  it's a qr code, and my latest obsession.  i've been pressing these in different colors to see what works and what doesn't (maybe that will be the third post in a series of what should have only been one).  anyway if you people out there with iphones don't yet have quiqr, i would recommend it.  i mean, i'm littering the world with enough of these business cards* to justify the download ... and maybe even purchase of the iphone.

*i've actually used a qr code for more than just myself ... a few other techy boys actually.  girls you need some qr code love too!

five years.

i've had the exact same business cards for FIVE years.  it was time for a change ... in fact it's very nearly time for more than just a business card change.  next up the website, which will be fun, or hell, i can't quite decide.

butterflies, california, husband.

last friday mas and i spent our day cutting and hanging butterflies (mas the cutting and me the hanging) at the shop in los alamos. it was a few hours well spent.

and then we gorged ourselves down the street at flatbread.

27 April 2010

we are heading to california tomorrow, me to work + mas to play, yay! so i've been thinking about my next window display for the shop and well i'm IN LOVE with ferry staverman. these shapes and colors are kind of spot on. now the only thing i have to do is figure out how i can recreate something similar. hrmmmmmm

wedding wednesday inspired by : a feather save the date

so um, yeah. the feather save the date is a recent winner of my favorite thing ever. wrapped in a test tube and shipped in a kraft paper box ... smiles. the invite wasn't too shabby either ... box filled with moss, invite stiched to fabric and attached to wood. so what else would befit such and event besides a tree house, antlers and a flowy dress?

30 March 2010

back home.

the time has come to head back to the part of the world where my husband resides, and while i cannot even tell you how excited i am to do that, i must say that it makes me a tad sad. i like california more and more with every visit. which is funny because when we first moved here and were living on the beach i couldn't wait to leave.

ps - that is a paper airplane, i spent a fair amount of time this past week making them and putting a few up in the window. it was fun.

22 March 2010

and here we go again.

it was bound to happen i suppose. i couldn't live an entire county away from my one and only little outpost. so, yes, i've another shop ... really a studio ... i'm not selling anything but custom paper goods here as it is solely appointment only.

so, if you were to swing by west asheville (508 haywood rd to be exact) you would see that inside the bloom room there is quite a bit of beautiful paper goodness. that is right i've teamed up with stacey who is simply amazing (and no, not just because she did the flowers for our wedding). there will be a party early summer to celebrate but for now asheville brides and paper people call/email/stop by to make an appointment.

{i'm very excited about this}

100 layer cake and heart of light.

you guys know that rachel from heart of light is the guest blogger over at 100 layer cake this week, right? today her post is about diy invites and you should check it out ... not just to see the cevd invites, but to listen to a rational person speak diy.

asheville, spring.

i left southern pines yesterday in rolled up jeans and a light weight button down. it was so lovely outside. i arrived to 39 degrees and overcast skies, um what? i thought it was supposed to be spring? i'm ready, whenever it decides to stick around. and for this week i will just have to layer, layer, layer all of my light weight sweaters and short sleeve shirts (oh what a spell in california will do to you weather checking skills).

by the way, things going on in asheville are big, i'll post more next week but you should know it is fun, and crazy, and busy.

wedding wednesday : inspired by

an accordion fold letterpress invitation with a perforated rsvp. wrapped in a light grey folder and enveloped by a dark grey lined in yellow. the bride did her own calligraphy and it is ridiculously wonderful.

she is getting married in detroit atop a v. tall building downtown in a most gorgeous non-satin dress. i on the other hand want to be back on the central coast fogged in with lanvin and loeffler randall. we were fast friends.

14 February 2010

happy valentine's day

despite all of my negative words earlier i can appreciate a day that we are supposed to send a little happiness out there into the world. plus my husband is the sweets and that makes me smile ... wether or not it is february 14th.

12 February 2010

it's friday, again.

well this week went by fast. it's been fun, and there are new projects on the horizon that are just so exciting. one of which is personal the others professional.

on the personal note mas and i are cooking our way through alice water's the art of simple food. we cook a lot but found ourselves in a rut that caused us to reproduce the same things over and over and over again. this is not for me, i tend to bore very easily. so last night was our fourth escapade in alice's world and the best so far (well actually the celery root mashed potatoes were delicious, but this was better, maybe) and we made spinach lasagna. the simple food version of lasagna entails making tomato sauce, béchamel sauce and pasta ... all from scratch. we make pasta a lot, but i gotta say this recipe was so.much.better than our last. mas has been on a tomato sauce kick so that was easy, and béchamel has been a favorite of ours for a while (though we had never made it). i would recommend it. all of it.

on the professional front, well its a secret for the time being, but i'm so excited i can barely contain myself. more on that in a month or so.

and now it is the weekend. i hope every one has a wonderful valentine's day that even includes flowers if necessary (mine is going to lean towards eating pancakes and movie watching, but to each their own.)

xo

ps- have you seen the 24 lunch bags series on the thussfarell photo site? i kinda love it.

04 February 2010

oh, did you know?

we're thinking about bidding adieu to etsy. the relationship has been good but i think it is time for a change. i'll keep you posted on our future, but for now you can find pretty.pretty.paper goods here.

.cevd. as always is still here.

28 January 2010

i must admit, i have been sitting on the updated images for the cevd website for a couple of weeks now. what can i say? nothing i know. but here is a sneak peek of what is to come on the site in about a week.

thursday at the shop

well hello. please allow me to introduce myself. my name is ashley {ajb}, and I am the lucky girl in charge of cevd's flagship shop in los alamos while she and mas are out searching for the perfect abode in nc. if any of you lovely readers are in the area please do stop by to say hello in person.

just a side note meant to entice you all to visit me at the shop... it's raining! i am loving it and if you were here, you would love it too. it doesn't happen very often in this area so when it does, i get absolutely giddy. any day where one can dress like the morton salt girl is a good one in my book.
