the move = the yard sale.

because apparently we did NOT get rid of enough stuff when we scaled down for the 500 sq ft nest.  we are all set* for our yard sale tomorrow.  it's supposed to be as warm as 52 out there.  we'll have hot chocolate.


now, i'm off to plaster this little town with posters ....


* if all set means we have a pile of clothes but haven't even gone through any of the other rooms - including the attic - then yea, we're all set.


it sleeted, we gave up before we had even started, and stayed in bed.  now we have to find place to take this stuff.  because we are not moving it. 

honestly i'd thought i would never get another.

but here i am, lusting, again, and for a while.  mas *might* even be considering.

weekend.

i think we are going to make peanut butter cups and chocolate chip cookies tomorrow morning.  then who knows what, but i'm thinking it might involved flannel shirts and the outdoors.

well shit, if three days out of the house (two of them being honest to goodness WEEKEND days) can turn a monday into a day like today, then maybe next time i will just consider not coming home.  especially when home is rainy and i don't have boot nearly as amazing as those.

summer IS turning into fall.

i've been up to my elbows in gold ink the past few days but that doesn't mean i haven't noticed the glorious morning AND evening temperatures. sure it still hovers in the 90's for the larger portion of the day, but the cooling down at night, well that gives me hope.

i need one, badly. it really is unfortunate that i'm on the opposite coast as my hair-cutter for the foreseeable future. that should change, like now.

not friday, but tuesday. i can't decide if i am happy about the fact that the week is not yet over or utterly depressed. i'll go with happy, for now, since i'm not completely behind ... yet.

los alamos.

this little town has my heart, but i think you all know that. mas and frances joined me for a few days this month and i gotta say it has been nice (mas left this morning, boo, but frances is still here, we have tons of fun in the sun together). also a fun part of this trip ... i'm house sitting for someone who has two black labs, six fish, two cats, three donkeys, three horses and a hot tub. did i mention i am RIDICULOUSLY allergic to horses? um, yeah. i went to love them and came away with two arms full of hives and a runny nose. it kills me not to be able to touch them, KILLS ME.

asheville, spring.

i left southern pines yesterday in rolled up jeans and a light weight button down. it was so lovely outside. i arrived to 39 degrees and overcast skies, um what? i thought it was supposed to be spring? i'm ready, whenever it decides to stick around. and for this week i will just have to layer, layer, layer all of my light weight sweaters and short sleeve shirts (oh what a spell in california will do to you weather checking skills).

by the way, things going on in asheville are big, i'll post more next week but you should know it is fun, and crazy, and busy.

ps - that's it, i'm caving and going to take a knitting class. it's bad enough with all of the cowls and wrist warmers and scarves that i cannot make ... you start throwing more than adorable little knit animals into the mix and i just can't take it anymore.

spring.

yesterday mas told me his spring started march 1st. maybe it was all of the bike riding that occurred this weekend, or just the sunshine that kept us warm while we were outside, or perhaps his un-realistic optimism? it's a not so balmy 45 outside right now, but some of our trees have started to sprout the babiest of blooms ...

it was a nice vacation from winter, but i'm heading back to a place where cuddling is mandatory to stay warm ... not a bad gig really.
