my week.

there was a neon belt and gingham shorts, also gold boat shoes and a chambray shirt ... hello prep.

the viewing of a shuttle being shuttled to it's new forever home by way of a 747.

there was frances sleeping on the chair, putting her dirty paws where they don't belong.

there was the massive blooming of one of our very old and established rose bushes.  anxiously waiting for the other two to follow suit.

and there was a delivery of eggs.  ever since we signed up for our green grocer delivery we've received a dozen of these a week, until last week, when there was a shortage.  it was one of the saddest weeks.

and then there is the weekend.  we've a couple of friends coming to town and are planning on another million calorie weekend (will tourist season please be OVER, i'm eating way too much).  there will also be live tapings of jeopardy, watched by us.  oh and the destruction of a bookshelf ... you know to make way for a new window.  what are you up to?

1. i've been thinking about chopping my hair for about 2 years now.

*maybe i should wait until AFTER the move before i make such rash decisions, i mean it might be enough of a change for me, i might want to keep my long hair after that.

these matthew brandt c prints are processed and then dunked into their subjects.  it's a pretty cool idea and the result reminds me of a project i did in undergrad ... giant 20x24 black and white prints of marshland completely obliterated with polaroid emulsion lifts.  my project, though well intentioned, kind of looked like shit.  i was young, and obsessed with boiling polaroids and playing with their tissue like emulsions ... matthew brandt just has style.

i might also have bloody feet, but esb swears that if i start slowly and break them in with socks first, they will be fine.  which is good because i'm wearing them no matter what.  they are my perfect spring/summer/fall/winter shoe ... the kind i can *hopefully* just throw on, the kind that will add a touch of non-slob to my slobby self.

have you ever had that feeling?

you know, the one that kind of makes it seem like things have changed?  and changed forever, and in a big way?  yesterday towards the end of our yoga class i was hit with THAT feeling, which is funny because absolutely nothing has changed in our lives recently.  i mean there has been a lot up in the air, which is honestly quite normal, but no changes.  so maybe, the change i felt was just a calming, or an acceptance of this ridiculous life that is constantly awesome and depressing at the same time?  i'm not sure, but it feels good, really, really, good.

then again, maybe this is all just a side effect of so much yoga.

spring ... again

i blame chelsea and esb for sending me into the black hole that is steven alan's spring line.  isn't it just KILLING YOU TOO??

today is tuesday.

frances is mad at me ... and has been all day long ... i've more work than can be accomplished today (that is what tomorrow is for i suppose) and my mom is coming to stay with us for the night.

i needed something quiet and grijs was the perfect answer. isn't the whole blog just, beautiful?

you know the kind, where all you want to do is go downstairs, make some doughnuts?  i'm only half blaming the mood on that new fryer of ours. we used it last night for french fries, and let's just say they were delicious.  we're still not sure if the fryer was the best decision we've ever made, or the worst ...

iceland, i'm ready to go back.

you know, during the summer, with our bikes.  we could pedal around the whole country.  find random holes in the ground filled with steaming water.  just enjoy the ness of iceland.  and maybe never come back?

birthday, cookie fail, dogs playing.

i'm in asheville for my dad's birthday and so far it has been a lesson in apps.  good ones, like flipboard, how did i live without YOU??? and bad ones like photoage, shocking that one doesn't work, eh?  we've planned dinner at a new restaurant in town and lunch at an old favorite.  frances is stealing dens and those cookies that i thought were failures, well they actually turned out to taste super delicious a day later.  oh AND there might even be snow tomorrow, SNOW.  mas and i live in the part of nc that has already passed on winter so it's nice to spend a day or two with the possibility.  i swear if i go the entire season without a single snowflake ... well, i don't know what i will do, but i can tell you i will be near monster level pissed by the end of the undoubtedly disgustingly hot summer.

while i'm convinced it will just be an spendy version of hipstamatic (the light leaks would have to be all in the programming after all) i still kind of love it.  and would buy one in heartbeat ... if they existed in meatspace. 

GIANT polaroids.

when i was in college i took a class that took us to the 20x24 polaroid studio ... TO USE IT.  my results were, um, well, weird.  after freaking out for a good couple of weeks i still had no idea what i was going to shoot and so, it ended up being a self-portrait.  me, white background, white hoodie, and mac oyster girl lipglass.  i honestly think that i might actually like the image if it wasn't a 20x24 of myself.  now i just look at it and see the baby fat face of my 20ish year old self.  so in lieu of ever going back ... which i suppose i shouldn't discount ... i'm going to lust after this 20x24 giant polaroid print by grant hamilton.  i mean, it is amazing, no?

mas has never been, but i have.  and while i think we are tied at 46 states a piece, i might be able to convince myself that booking a trip for this summer might not be a bad idea, you know as long as we swing through south dakota* ...

* one of my four states not visited ... which sucks because WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GO TO SOUTH DAKOTA?! the other three we share ... and they are: oklahoma, arkansas and rhode island.  although now that i think about it, maybe mas hasn't been to idaho either?!  oh i might be on to something here.

perhaps it's time to add another to the collection?
