wedding wednesday inspired by : a feather save the date

so um, yeah. the feather save the date is a recent winner of my favorite thing ever. wrapped in a test tube and shipped in a kraft paper box ... smiles. the invite wasn't too shabby either ... box filled with moss, invite stiched to fabric and attached to wood. so what else would befit such and event besides a tree house, antlers and a flowy dress?

wedding wednesday : inspired by

an accordion fold letterpress invitation with a perforated rsvp. wrapped in a light grey folder and enveloped by a dark grey lined in yellow. the bride did her own calligraphy and it is ridiculously wonderful.


she is getting married in detroit atop a v. tall building downtown in a most gorgeous non-satin dress. i on the other hand want to be back on the central coast fogged in with lanvin and loeffler randall. we were fast friends.

wedding wednesday is back.

funny thing about weddings ... they just never stop being fun. going to them, writing about them, having them, planning them, designing invitations FOR them. really they just never ever get old. at least i don't think they do, but i suppose that is why i am in the industry. so this is my plan, every(ish) wednesday i will put together a grouping of things for a wedding inspired by an invitation that is making it's way through the studio. i am not re-working my brides' weddings (they are all perfection just the way they are) but there are some invitations that i LUST over, and these always get me thinking ... maybe we should have done it differently (which i know we should not have done, as we both thought our wedding day was perfection). so check back this afternoon for the first up in what i hope is at least a semi-weekly feature - wedding wednesday : inspired by ...

so you should know that my dear friend mouse asked for some help with the whole world of wedding invitations for her wedding blog. i obliged (how could i not?), and she was kind enough to let me go into the *almost* nitty-gritty details of printing methods.

also you should know the loverly lady over at vanilla water was kind enough to post the recipe for her chickpea+cauliflower+thyme veloute. i cannot wait until we return home so i can make it and gobble it up.

cake stands

we had custom cake stands made for our wedding by the lovely clara french and still have them. in fact i am a big fan of cake stands. if we had more room in the nest i would fill it further. but we don't and our wedding is over ... so how about one of you brides to be grab a few of these iacoli & mcallister stands, decorate them with scrumptious treats and love them forever?

you see jennie sent me pictures of her wedding because she knew of my heart shaped OBSESSION and thought i might enjoy a bit of hers. why jennie how incredibly thoughtful of you, in fact i did enjoy your hearts. but my enjoyment wasn't limited to the hearts ... the shoes, and the fact that i might be a sucker for a red cooler filled with flowers made things pretty fantastic as well.

weddings i would like to attend : 1

yeah, how freaking cute?

i know those hearts are going to make a few of you feel a wee bit nauseated, but if you recall from a long, long time ago i can't help myself when it comes to the giant red blobs of ink.

oh and their invitation was a poster (i can't post it here due to some silly computer problems but you can see it here). i am so ready to have a client come to me and ask for a wedding invitation poster, in fact, i am so ready that i might be willing to do it at a pretty heft discount ... ahem, ahem. you know, in case anyone is interested.

so i know i said soon, but what i meant was eventually ... you can forgive me right? oh and i don't do inspiration boards so you will have to deal with my wedding likes in separate pictures.

lots and lots of ruffles. and i think a suggestion for everyone else attending the wedding to wear ruffles might not be a bad idea either.

and then since we are on the topic of new websites ...

mine is up and running! and seeing as though i do actually design wedding invitations i figured the update would coincide quite nicely with wedding wednesday (though i am begining to feel a bit weird about the lack of dresses). so take a gander ... and check back because unlike my old site, this one is actually easy to update so there will be new stuff posted on a decently regular basis ... yay!

let us start with once wed

because the new site is up and i gotta say i kinda love it. there are a ton of real weddings and diy projects that will take up a decent chunk of your time, and the inspiration galleries aren't too shabby either.

keeping it simple

it is hard to do in a world filled with amazing flowers and more amazing bits and bops of various motley, but honestly a pared down table is unbeatable.
