shameless self promotion

i'm testing a new method, a different method of invitation creation. i am looking to expand my customer base and reaching out through etsy (if they didn't make it so freaking easy i might be tempted to actually set up my own site). custom wedding invitations with all of the service and design, and only a bit of the cash. let's face it, the times are tough and weddings are, um don't kill me, one of those unnecessary indulgences. i mean they are great and wonderful and so worth whatever you spend on them (most of the time) but not every one can swing the high prices that tend to reside in the world of custom paper products. so ... that is where pretty pretty paper comes in.

the choices are screenprinted or digitally printed on your choice of paper in your choice of ink color(s). you and i work together tirelessly to create the PERFECT invite for you and about 2-4 weeks after final proof approval you have your lovely one of a kind invites in your hands ready to be sent out.
so if you or anyone you know might be interested in a little something special to send out to your nearest and dearest then please click on over to the etsy site to see what there is to see. and keep in mind that EVERYTHING is custom. so if you were hoping for a square invite but i only have rectangular listed ... just convo me. custom really means you get what you want.
{i haven't bailed on offset, letterpress and engraving so if those are the things that tickle your fancy please feel free to send me and email and we can certainly work something out}

word on the street is ...
the air outside is beyond lovely and coming in at an absurd january temperature of 86. so i am off for the day to give frances some much needed exercise. we are going to go and do what any normal person would do in the middle of winter - walk on the beach - i can't get over this california place. (and ok i didn't get the word off the street but weather.com we have been watching the wire for the past week or so and the language is sticking a bit more than it should)

another trip into the deep dark world of weddings
it is true i still *sometimes* look around at wedding dresses. it wasn't something i found myself doing a whole lot of before i looked for mine so i find it a bit weird that it is something i find myself doing now that the whole wedding thing is over. but never the less there are some really pretty dresses out there. and then there are some really really pretty, really simple and really glad i didn't see this a month before our date dresses out there ... like this one from j.crew.
and while i am sending you to j.crew you might as well click here and here to see a couple other things i adore.

a new girl in town

ok so she isn't exactly new to the wedding world, classic bride has been a pretty popular blog for quite some time now, but sarah has recently ventured out in to the wonderful world of calligraphy. so if you are in the mood for some swirly writing, or perhaps in need of some envelope addressing, i say swing on by sd calligraphy.

valentines day is coming ... wether you like it or not
i have to say i am not one of those people that believes valentines day is about chocolates and flowers and over the top shows of love. it is just too much for me.
mas and i have a tradition of heading to a fast food restaurant and calling it a day. it used to be mcdonalds, don't hate me ... it was a while ago ... before i cared about what i ate and still relished in my childhood memories that were laden with big macs and french fries. anyway it has since turned into a more animal/environmentally friendly meal though still perhaps considered fast food.
but that is besides the point almost entirely. the point is we don't really exchange gifts, just nice cards and the company of one and other in a place we would otherwise not frequent. now just because we don't exchange gifts doesn't mean i don't scour the internets in search of the cutest and bestest valentines day goodies out there. let's face it there are lots and lots and lots of things out there with hearts on them during this season and we all know what a nut case i am for some hearts ").
there is also an amazing amount of candy and candy inspired paraphernalia out there (have i mentioned i have a pretty large sweet tooth?) which i tend to fall in love with. then someone goes and pairs candy colors and cute little wooden figures and comes out with one of the most amazing little doo-dads of the season. i know you know someone that wants one, or two, or perhaps three for $24?

for the boys

fancy boy shoes really get me excited. i love a guy who owns more than three pairs of shoes because come on ... no one can get away with wearing sneakers or flip flops EVERYWHERE. so if you happen to know someone who is of the male persuasion send him here to drool over the not exactly affordable, but so worth looking at shoes from lanvin.

ready to start the week.
it was truly one of the loveliest i have experienced in quite a while. the air was warm, the breeze was relaxing and the sun was beautiful.
we went hiking, made cheeseburgers and lemonade, and spent hours with our porch doors open.
