spring cleaning.

i have one giant pile of things to get rid of sitting in the corner of our dining room/place where things go to sit so they don't gather dust. i want to get rid of these things, but they aren't good will things ... they are a tad nicer, and in almost pristine condition. so thoughts on how to go about getting them into new homes? have you tried say, a tag sale, with great success? or should i maybe stick to ebay? or just putting notes up here on the blog? consignment freaks me out, and well, our retiree community doesn't want my max mara trench.

that being said one of the items i am parting with is a yudu, anyone want? i've used it fewer than 10 times. we don't get along, but i feel as though i might be in the minority here.

  1. A tag sale is great for clothing - I really couldn't have been more happy with the response to my sale. I'm lucky that we have great consignment stores here, so I took anything that didn't go in the tag sale to consignment. Ebay for me is hit or miss - and with the fees I tend to think it's just not worth it.

  2. Ebay is GREAT for Seven Jeans in any condition, and designer label items that are new with tags. But otherwise it's often not worth the time it takes to shoot the fucking pictures/write the descriptions, etc.

p.s. I want your Max Mara trench. (Why don't you want your Max Mara trench??)

  3. I always say I'm going to use Ebay and after several months I end up taking the box to Goodwill after all. But you're probably more organized.

I still haven't managed to bond with my Gocco as I promised myself I would do when I shelled out big bucks for it and made Dustin haul it back from Japan in his suitcase. So the Yudu is definitely off the table for me.

rachel - i am most definitely NOT more organized. oh i loved my gocco. i still have it, you know just in case they decide to make supplies for it ever again.

  5. the yudu, it apparently comes with finger guns. Sincere ones, no less. That's very charming.

  7. s-f-s : while i would LOVE to go to any of those, i''m stuck with what we have here which would include ... fifi's and cream of the couture (which does NOT specialize in couture if you couldn't tell).

carrots : who doesn't want finger guns when screen printing?!

  9. and also, ebay sucks. between ebay and friggin buffalo exchange, i've probably given away some pretty good stuff for nowhere near what i should have.

  10. I had a yudu on my amazon wishlist and took it off after reading so many bad reviews...my birthday is coming up and I told my parents I wanted a gocco (i know they're confused)....what were your thoughts on the Yudu?

  11. t-bone - the yudu and i did not get along. at all. i don't know if it was user error (likely i will admit) or what, but it was just more frustrating for me than anything else. i would be happy to chat more, email me!

  12. Oh, who has time for ebay? And the one time an unwanted book sold on Amazon, I lost the disc that went with it and tarnished my rating forever. So, it's Goodwill all the way for me. They get all my old books and clothes from The Limited sale rack.

  13. My friend just started a vintage shop and she has an online consignment portion as well ... I haven't personally tried it yet, but those who have said it is way easier than ebay, etc. not sure if it would work, but a thought? the link is www.chicandyoushallfind.com
And I was looking at a yudu, but nice to know that it hasn't worked for real peeps...

  14. I would take a yudu - my fiance seems to think it would be better than the gocco we've got.
