if you could live forever, would you?

last night mas and i watched a documentary about ray kurzweil, a documentary that was not very good, and it took us back to that endless conversation we seem to have ... would you live forever if you could?  neither of our answers EVER change and still we struggle to grasp the complete insanity of the other's.  mas is more than sure he'd take on eternity, while i would rather just not fuss with it all.  according to kurzweil we'll be perfectly poised to make this decision in our lifetime (another issue entirely), and mas and i have a wager going, so tell me, would you live forever if you could?

  2. No, thank you. I'm with Gracie on this one. Even living to 80 will be pushing it for me.

    Joe's reply:

Why the hell would I want to live forever?

  3. No way. I'm going to do everything I can to enjoy the next 50 years and then I'm out. If 80 years isn't enough then I'm doing something wrong.

  6. Wow, I thought so many of these comments would be YES!

When I was religious the idea scared the hell out of me. Now that I'm not.... I'm not sure. The romantic part of me says yes, the realistic part of me knows living forever would be against human nature and would end up of being full of unhappiness. But the romance always wins out.

  7. against human nature? you all are nuts. we spend the majority of our energy on procreating, and most of the rest of it on trying to be healthier so we can live better and longer. NOT wanting to live forever is against human nature!
